INSPIRARION : |
Words cannot express the glory and magnificence of 'Shri Swami Samarth' , Akkalkotkar who is our source of inspiration and driving force.
He is an incarnation of Lord Dattatrya. People of all social classes, religions and communities came to him for solace and peace. No one ever returned dissatisfied. The Darshan of the great Swami filled the hearts of all with abundance of peace and happiness. When unknowingly a wood cutter dug into a huge ant hill while Shri Swami Samarth was in samadhi for 300 years, he was hurt. The woodcutter was aghast to see blood stains on his axe. But Swamiji slowly opened his eyes, rose to his feet and beaming with love held the frightened man. " My child do not feel sorry for what has happened. The time has come for me to resume my mission and reappear in the world." The axe wound left a scar on his thigh and was seen by those who attended him.
His kindness and forgiveness touched people of all religions Hindu, Muslims, Parsis, Jews etc. who came for his dershan.
Whenever dharma has been threatened in Bhartvarsh, God has come in the form of Avtar to save and protect all devotees. It is for this purpose that Shri. Swami Samarth Maharaj manifested himself.
On 3rd April 1878, He completed His earthly mission and took Mahasamadhi. Even though He is no longer in bodily manifestation, He still guides His true devotees and manifests himself even now. |
Shri Swami Samarth's message :
- You reap what you have sown. You cannot shirk off your responsibility for your past Karma. Nevertheless, Divine Grace can ward off some bad effects of your karma. Take to His name, chanting of His name (japa) can destroy all sins, it consumes them like fire. Surrender unto Him unreservedly, there is no greater succor for you in this kaliyuga than the name of the Lord.
- Cultivate viveka (discrimination) and try to recognise the reality i.e. God behind all the pluralistic phenomena in the world. Just as the param hamsa (divine swan) separates milk from a mixture of milk and water, one should look within oneself and experience the eternal atma (spirit), which is the substratum and reality behind all the layers of matter which constitute this ephemeral cosmos.
- Do not shirk work. Work is the means for both self sustenance and self perfection. Laziness destroys both the body and soul. Whatever work has come to your lot, take it up in all sincerity, devotion and earnestness as worship unto Him. No work is lowly provided it accords with one's "Swadharma" . Efficiency and perfection in work is Yoga.
- Only enunciation of principles or precepts will not help spiritual growth, it is sheer hypocrisy if they are not put into practice. What our Dharma requires is Acharan (practice or implementation) and not prachar (talk or preaching).
- Seek satsang, the company of the pious and saintly people - darshan of these holy people sanctifies one.
- Cultivate selfless devotion. Cultivate humility and egolessness. God loves the humble and pure hearted, God is in all - see God in all. Do not forget that all are alike in the eyes of God - all are His children.
